SLS 17RS-889 ORIGINAL 2017 Regular Session SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 50 BY SENATOR JOHNS COMMENDATIONS. Recognizes and expresses appreciation for the Louisiana Dental Association and Dental Lifeline Network - Louisiana's Donated Dental Services Program. 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2 To recognize and express appreciation for the Louisiana Dental Association and Dental 3 Lifeline Network - Louisiana's Donated Dental Services Program for donating $10 4 million in dental treatment to people in Louisiana with disabilities or who are elderly 5 or medically fragile. 6 WHEREAS, 30 years ago in 1987, Dental Lifeline Network - Louisiana and the 7 Louisiana Dental Association established the Donated Dental Services (DDS) Program; and 8 WHEREAS, through the DDS Program, dentists and dental laboratories donate 9 comprehensive treatment for people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile 10 and who cannot afford dental care; and 11 WHEREAS, 320 dentists and 75 dental labs volunteer for the DDS Program, and 12 they have treated over 5,100 people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile 13 with seriously neglected dental problems throughout Louisiana since the program's 14 inception; and 15 WHEREAS, the Louisiana DDS Program reached a milestone of providing $10 16 million in donated comprehensive dental care through the generosity and benevolence of 17 dentists and laboratories throughout the state, and the DDS Program has provided over $350 18 million in donated dental services nationwide; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 50 SLS 17RS-889 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, the strength and success of the state of Louisiana, the vitality of our 2 communities, and the effectiveness of society depend, in great measure, upon concerned and 3 devoted programs as exemplified by the Louisiana DDS Program. 4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 5 congratulate and express profound gratitude to the Louisiana Dental Association and Dental 6 Lifeline Network and the hundreds of Donated Dental Services (DDS) program volunteer 7 dentists and dental laboratories who have provided $10 million in donated dental care to over 8 5,100 vulnerable people in Louisiana who would not otherwise receive comprehensive 9 dental treatment. 10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 11 Dental Lifeline Network - Louisiana and the Louisiana Dental Association.
