SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 57
BY SENATORS COLOMB, BARROW, HEWITT, MIZELL AND PETERSON AND
REPRESENTATIVES AMEDEE, CARPENTER, DAVIS, EMERSON,
HILFERTY, HILL, HODGES, HORTON, JACKSON, NANCY
LANDRY, MARCELLE, MORENO, NORTON, SMITH, STOKES,
THOMAS AND WHITE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Malori Dawn Dupree upon being selected for a Women
of Excellence Award and a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Malori Dawn Dupree upon her receipt of a 2017 Women of Excellence Award
3 from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category of High
4 School Women of Excellence and upon being a recipient of a Louisiana Legislative
5 Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.
6 WHEREAS, Malori is the daughter of Jasmine Viator and Kevin Louvierre and the
7 big sister to three half-siblings, three step-siblings, and the younger sister to two
8 step-siblings; and
9 WHEREAS, Malori of Gueydan High School exhibited a passion for involvement
10 at a very young age as she participated in several honorable programs such as Vermilion
11 Parish Government Day and Louisiana Girls State; and 
12 WHEREAS, as a longtime outstanding student, Malori has received multiple
13 academic awards at the end of each year and as a student at Gueydan High School, she
14 earned the respect of her peers by being selected Homecoming Court Maid three times and
15 Most Studious of her senior class, and she also served as the Gueydan Honey Bears
16 basketball varsity team manager for a total of six years including this year in which they
17 captured the Class A State Championship title; and
18 WHEREAS, Malori has been a member of FCA, FFA, Drama Club, Bruin Year

1 Book Staff, and SPARK Volunteer Service Club, all while maintaining part time jobs while
2 in high school; and
3 WHEREAS, despite being a part of these activities and working part time, Malori
4 maintains a cumulative 3.898 GPA and, in addition to being selected as the Vermilion Parish
5 Starfish award recipient, she is a recipient of the JonCade Thomas Clemons Memorial
6 Scholarship and the recipient of McNeese State University's Academic Excellence
7 Scholarship; and 
8 WHEREAS, Malori will be attending McNeese State University in Lake Charles,
9 Louisiana, in the fall of 2017 where she plans to pursue a degree as a registered nurse and
10 in the near future she hopes to pursue her master's degree in RN-Midwifery, with her
11 ultimate goal of owning a birthing center; and
12 WHEREAS, Malori thanks her family and the faculty of Gueydan High School for
13 her success; and
14 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation created the
15 Women of Excellence Awards to recognize and honor extraordinary women of excellence
16 across the state for their outstanding achievements and contributions; and
17 WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics
18 of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are
19 committed to community service to better society as a whole; and
20 WHEREAS, for 2017, there are four categories for the Women of Excellence
21 Awards: College Women of Excellence, High School Women of Excellence, Louisiana Hero
22 of Excellence, and Nonprofit of Excellence; and
23 WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards are being
24 recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of
25 Excellence Awards & Scholarships Ceremony and Reception on Tuesday, May 9, 2017; and
26 WHEREAS, Malori has been named a recipient of a 2017 Women of Excellence
27 Award in the category of High School Women of Excellence and also is a recipient of a
28 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship for her accomplishments
29 and personification of excellence in integrity, character, academics, leadership, and
30 community service; and

1 WHEREAS, Malori merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for her
2 dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments, and it is appropriate for the
3 Legislature of Louisiana to commend Malori upon her receipt of a 2017 Women of
4 Excellence Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation and of a
5 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
7 commend Malori Dawn Dupree upon her receipt of a 2017 Women of Excellence Award
8 from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category of High School
9 Women of Excellence and upon her receipt of a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus
10 Foundation Scholarship; does hereby recognize and record for posterity her singular
11 contributions to the citizens of Louisiana; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for
12 the tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her community and the state of Louisiana.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
14 Malori Dawn Dupree.
