COMMENDATIONS. To commend Shubhneet Warar on being selected to receive a High
School Women of Excellence Award and a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus
Foundation Scholarship.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Shubhneet Warar on being selected to receive a High School Women of
3 Excellence Award and a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation
4 Scholarship.
5 WHEREAS, Shubhneet Warar is the eldest daughter of Manjit and Seema Warar and
6 has maintained a 4.8 weighted grade point average and straight A's throughout her years at
7 Caddo Parish Magnet High School in Shreveport, Louisiana; and
8 WHEREAS, earning the highest score of five on three advanced placement exams,
9 she has received the AP Scholar with Honor distinction; and
10 WHEREAS, Shubhneet is the president of her mock trial team, has earned first place
11 regional victories the past two years, and has been awarded as a Best Witness and as a Best
12 Lawyer; and
13 WHEREAS, this year, her team won the state championship and will go on to
14 compete at the national level in Connecticut, and earlier this year, they placed fourth at the
15 National Empire Mock Trial Competition in Georgia; and
16 WHEREAS, Shubhneet also assisted in establishing a middle school mock trial camp
17 to encourage interest in the legal field; and
18 WHEREAS, while carrying out duties for National Honor Society, Student Council,

1 National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Olympiad, and the National
2 Society of High School Scholars, Shubhneet finds time to play volleyball and the bassoon;
3 and
4 WHEREAS, after writing a humorous poem called "Ode to the Platypus" to show the
5 value of an uncommon species, she won an Artbreak Literary award and was published in
6 Caddo Parish's Seedlings Magazine; and
7 WHEREAS, Shubhneet values giving back to her community and has been a
8 volunteer prosecuting attorney with Teen Court, a STEM proponent for SciPort and Camp
9 Invention summer camps, as well as a math tutor for her school's Homework Gang and the
10 Association for the Blind; and
11 WHEREAS, with more than three hundred service hours, she was named her school's
12 Prudential Spirit of Community Award winner, is the service coordinator for her Key Club,
13 and participated in a backpack drive to give kids in her community much needed school
14 supplies; and
15 WHEREAS, in the fall, Shubhneet will attend Baylor University with a double major
16 in mathematics and chemistry and plans to join the collegiate mock trial team; and
17 WHEREAS, after attending medical school, she hopes to pursue her dream of
18 becoming an orthopedics physician; and
19 WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics
20 of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are
21 committed to community service to better society as a whole; and
22 WHEREAS, for 2017, there are four categories for the Women of Excellence
23 Awards: College Women of Excellence, High School Women of Excellence, Louisiana Hero
24 of Excellence, and Nonprofit of Excellence; and
25 WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards are being
26 recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of
27 Excellence Awards & Scholarships Ceremony and Reception on Tuesday, May 9, 2017; and
28 WHEREAS, Shubhneet has been named a recipient of a 2017 Women of Excellence
29 Award in the category of High School Women of Excellence and is also a recipient of a
30 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship for her accomplishments

1 and personification of excellence in integrity, character, academics, leadership, and
2 community service; and
3 WHEREAS, Shubhneet merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for
4 her dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments, and it is appropriate for
5 the Legislature of Louisiana to commend Shubhneet upon receipt of a 2017 Women of
6 Excellence Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation and a
7 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
9 commend Shubhneet Warar upon receipt of a 2017 Women of Excellence Award from the
10 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category of High School Women
11 of Excellence and the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship; does
12 hereby recognize and record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of
13 Louisiana; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor
14 that she brings to her community and the state of Louisiana.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Shubhneet Warar.
