SLS 17RS-789 ORIGINAL 2017 Regular Session SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 71 BY SENATORS COLOMB, BARROW, HEWITT, MIZELL AND PETERSON AND REPRESENTATIVES AMEDEE, CARPENTER, DAVIS, EMERSON, HILL, HILFERTY, HODGES, HORTON, JACKSON, NANCY LANDRY, MARCELLE, MORENO, NORTON, SMITH, STOKES, THOMAS AND WHITE COMMENDATIONS. Commends Courtney Lynn Lott on being selected to receive a Women of Excellence Award and a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship. 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2 To commend Courtney Lynn Lott on being selected to receive a Women of Excellence 3 Award and a Louisiana Legislative Caucus Foundation Scholarship. 4 WHEREAS, Courtney Lynn Lott is the daughter of Timothy and Karen Lott; and 5 WHEREAS, she attended Mount Carmel Academy high school in New Orleans 6 where she was a valedictorian, an ambassador, and a member of the student council; and 7 WHEREAS, Courtney is an industrial engineering major at Louisiana State 8 University (LSU) and maintains a 3.99 grade point average; and 9 WHEREAS, as a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, she was Director of Rituals and 10 received the honor of Most Outstanding Sophomore; and 11 WHEREAS, Courtney's other honors include the LSU Academic Scholars Resident 12 Award, the TOPS Honors Award, the Willow Johnson Memorial Scholarship, and The 13 Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi; and 14 WHEREAS, she was recently selected to work on a project with LSU Academic 15 Affairs to improve the campus tour process, applying statistical analysis and reengineering 16 tools, and prior to this position, Courtney worked at the LSU Chevron Center, where she 17 assisted in managing the operations of the engineering studio; and 18 WHEREAS, she attended an LSU study-abroad program last year, visiting several Page 1 of 3 SCR NO. 71 SLS 17RS-789 ORIGINAL 1 corporations in Berlin, Leipzig, and Munich, Germany, as well as Prague, Czech Republic, 2 which confirmed her desire to pursue a career which focuses on efficiency, quality, and 3 sustainability, not only for the benefit of the company, but for the workers, the environment, 4 and all of society; and 5 WHEREAS, Courtney accepted a position as business analytics intern with ArcBest, 6 an integrated logistics solution company headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas, during the 7 summer; and 8 WHEREAS, Courtney is a long-time dancer and her love of ballet continues as she 9 takes classes at LSU and a studio in Baton Rouge in her spare time, and she also has a 10 passion for mission and volunteer work and is a leader at her church and at Young Life 11 summer camps; and 12 WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics 13 of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are 14 committed to community service to better society as a whole; and 15 WHEREAS, for 2017, there are four categories for the Women of Excellence 16 Awards: College Women of Excellence, High School Women of Excellence, Louisiana Hero 17 of Excellence, and Nonprofit of Excellence; and 18 WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards are being 19 recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of 20 Excellence Awards & Scholarships Ceremony and Reception on Tuesday, May 9, 2017; and 21 WHEREAS, Courtney has been named a recipient of a 2017 Women of Excellence 22 Award in the category of College Women of Excellence and is also a recipient of a 23 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship for her accomplishments 24 and personification of excellence in integrity, character, academics, leadership, and 25 community service; and 26 WHEREAS, Courtney merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for 27 her dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments, and it is appropriate for 28 the Legislature of Louisiana to commend Courtney upon receipt of a 2017 Women of 29 Excellence Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation and a 30 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship. Page 2 of 3 SCR NO. 71 SLS 17RS-789 ORIGINAL 1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 2 commend Courtney Lynn Lott upon receipt of a 2017 Women of Excellence Award from 3 the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category of College Women 4 of Excellence and the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship; does 5 hereby recognize and record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of 6 Louisiana; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor 7 that she brings to her community and the state of Louisiana. 8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 9 Courtney Lynn Lott.
