SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 105

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Delhi High School boys and girls powerlifting teams for
each winning second place in the 2017 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division
V, Class 1A State Powerlifting Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Delhi High School powerlifting teams on winning second place in the 2017
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Division V, Class 1A state
4 powerlifting championship.
5 WHEREAS, the Delhi High School powerlifting teams completed a sensational
6 season, earning second place in the 2017 LHSAA Division V, Class 1A state powerlifting
7 championship; and
8 WHEREAS, the state powerlifting championship was the culmination of another
9 unforgettable and extraordinary season for Delhi High School; and
10 WHEREAS, the Delhi High School powerlifters displayed impeccable skill and focus
11 throughout the season and each of these young people deserve a special measure of
12 commendation for their vital contribution to the success of the team; and
13 WHEREAS, the team members are Cameron McDowell, Tamia Washington, Charles
14 Cooper, Taryn Washington, Deshun Island, Sierra Gray, Joseph Hardy, Amyiah Killian,
15 Cathedral Loyd, Aquasia Dixon, Walter Anderson, Nykerra Killingsworth, Jonathan
16 Fountain, LaDasia Cleveland, Christopher McCall, Tiere McCall, Quashon Starks, Tyreonna
17 Smith, Quamesia Keys, Ashonlyn Criss, Armani Jackson, Ka'diejah Cooper; and
18 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the teams could not have been

1 achieved without the guidance and skill of coaches Derrick Wilhite and Michelle McCall,
2 as well as all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's
3 powerlifting program; and
4 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the Delhi
5 High School athletics program, as the Delhi High School alumni and fans recognize the
6 immense pride and distinguished honor that each team brings to its school, community, and
7 state.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
9 does hereby commend the Delhi High School powerlifting teams upon placing second in the
10 Division V, Class 1A state powerlifting championship, and acknowledges the immense pride
11 that the teams bring to the school, the town of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana, and does
12 hereby extend best wishes to the lifters, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine
13 powerlifting program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued
14 success in the future.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 coaches Derrick Wilhite and Michelle McCall, and athletic director Toriano Williams.
