SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 105

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Delhi High School powerlifting teams on winning second place in the 2017
Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Division V, Class 1A state
powerlifting championship.
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School powerlifting teams completed a sensational
season, earning second place in the 2017 LHSAA Division V, Class 1A state powerlifting
championship; and
WHEREAS, the state powerlifting championship was the culmination of another
unforgettable and extraordinary season for Delhi High School; and
WHEREAS, the Delhi High School powerlifters displayed impeccable skill and focus
throughout the season and each of these young people deserve a special measure of
commendation for their vital contribution to the success of the team; and
WHEREAS, the team members are Cameron McDowell, Tamia Washington, Charles
Cooper, Taryn Washington, Deshun Island, Sierra Gray, Joseph Hardy, Amyiah Killian,
Cathedral Loyd, Aquasia Dixon, Walter Anderson, Nykerra Killingsworth, Jonathan
Fountain, LaDasia Cleveland, Christopher McCall, Tiere McCall, Quashon Starks, Tyreonna
Smith, Quamesia Keys, Ashonlyn Criss, Armani Jackson, and Ka'diejah Cooper; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the teams could not have been
achieved without the guidance and skill of coaches Derrick Wilhite and Michelle McCall,
as well as all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's
powerlifting program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the Delhi
High School athletics program, as the Delhi High School alumni and fans recognize the
immense pride and distinguished honor that each team brings to its school, community, and
state.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Delhi High School powerlifting teams upon placing second in the
Division V, Class 1A state powerlifting championship, and acknowledges the immense pride
that the teams bring to the school, the town of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana, and does
hereby extend best wishes to the lifters, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine
powerlifting program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued
success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
coaches Derrick Wilhite and Michelle McCall, and athletic director Toriano Williams.
