SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107
BY SENATORS LONG, ALARIO, ALLAIN, APPEL, BARROW, BISHOP,
BOUDREAUX, CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR, COLOMB,
CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HEWITT, JOHNS,
LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LUNEAU, MARTINY, MILKOVICH, MILLS,
MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON,
RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON,
WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE 
A RESOLUTION
To express the establishment of the Rose Landry Long Louisiana Senate Scholarship.
WHEREAS, Rose Landry Long was the first member of her family to attend college
and she always placed a high priority on education, especially for those who lacked
opportunities to attend college; and 
WHEREAS, in her memory, the Rose Landry Long Louisiana Senate Scholarship
will be established; and 
WHEREAS, the goal of the Rose Landry Long Louisiana Senate Scholarship will be
to give at least two scholarships a year starting in the fall of 2017; and
WHEREAS, the scholarship will be limited to incoming freshmen who are the first
in their family to attend college; and 
WHEREAS, members of the Senate are encouraged to provide the names of eligible
students from their respective districts; and
WHEREAS, for the first year, a scholarship of at least two hundred fifty dollars will
be awarded to an eligible student from each senatorial district whose name is submitted by
the respective senator; and
WHEREAS, in order to continue to receive the scholarship, a scholarship recipient
will have to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and be in good standing with the university or
college the student is attending.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana that
the establishment of the Rose Landry Long Louisiana Senate Scholarship is hereby
expressed.
