SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 108

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Reid Didier upon attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Reid Didier upon attaining the rank of Eagle Scout of the Istrouma Area
3 Council, Troop 888.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
5 recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Reid Didier in his young life; and
6 WHEREAS, Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America,
7 a rank founded more than one hundred years ago; and
8 WHEREAS, only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy
9 review process, involving requirements that take years to fulfill; and
10 WHEREAS, the requirements for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout include: earning
11 at least twenty-one merit badges; demonstrating Scout spirit, an ideal attitude based upon
12 the Scout oath and law, service, and leadership; and an extensive service project that the
13 Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages; and
14 WHEREAS, Reid became a Cub Scout in 2010, and as a Webelos II Scout, earned
15 the Religious Emblems Award, Parvuli Dei, a program developed by the National Catholic
16 Committee on Scouting to help young scouts discover the presence of God in their daily
17 lives and develop a positive self-image as they work with their families in the community;

1 WHEREAS, as a First Class Scout, Reid earned the Year Round Camper Award for
2 twelve consecutive months of camping, and demonstrating dedication and hard work on his
3 way to this achievement; and
4 WHEREAS, during the past three years Reid has displayed reverence and patriotism
5 by serving as a member of the honor guard at various local events, and has served as patrol
6 leader, assistant senior patrol leader, and senior patrol leader during that time; and
7 WHEREAS, for the past seven years Reid has worked tirelessly on his journey to
8 Eagle Scout, traveling to many states including Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, New
9 Mexico, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia for various
10 summer and winter camps, has earned the 50-Miler Award merit badge, and will attend the
11 Philmont Scouting Camp in New Mexico in the summer of 2017; and
12 WHEREAS, Reid is presently an eighth grade student at Most Blessed Sacrament
13 School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which he has attended since preschool and where he
14 completed his Eagle Scout Service Project of rebuilding the flowerbeds on campus and
15 building vegetable gardens for the kindergarten class; and
16 WHEREAS, Reid's extracurricular activities outside of scouting include playing
17 basketball for Most Blessed Sacrament School since the third grade, playing in the summer
18 basketball league for the YMCA for the past four years, attending basketball summer camps
19 at St. Michael the Archangel High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the past five years,
20 and recently playing the part of Simon Peter in the Passion Play at Most Blessed Sacrament
21 School; and
22 WHEREAS, Reid will be attending St. Michael the Archangel High School in the fall
23 of 2017, entering the freshman class with the goal of fostering St. Michael's mission as a
24 disciple of Christ; and
25 WHEREAS, Reid desires to remain in scouting for the next four years so that he can
26 serve as a role model, mentor, and leader for younger scouts; and
27 WHEREAS, at an Eagle Court of Honor held on May 6, 2017, Reid was awarded the
28 rank of Eagle Scout of the Istrouma Area Council, Troop 888, the youngest Scout to attain
29 this rank in his troop.
30 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana

1 does hereby commend Reid Didier upon attaining the rank of Eagle Scout of the Istrouma
2 Area Council, Troop 888.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
4 further commends Reid Didier for challenging himself and others, and displaying the highest
5 degree of character, on the road to this achievement.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
7 Reid Didier.
