SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 118
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Mangham High School Lady Dragons softball team
for their Class 2A State Championship title win at the 2017 Allstate Sugarbowl/LHSAA
Softball Tournament.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Mangham High School Lady Dragons softball team on a memorable
3 season winning the Class 2A State Championship Title at the 2017 Allstate
4 Sugarbowl/LHSAA Softball Tournament.
5 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has
6 learned that the Mangham High School Lady Dragons softball team won the 2017 Louisiana
7 High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Class 2A State Championship title; and
8 WHEREAS, Mangham High School Lady Dragons finished a phenomenal regular
9 season as the District 2 co-champions with a district record of 5-1; and
10 WHEREAS, this team of first-class athletes includes Kara Wilcher, Avery Adams,
11 Gabrielle Riggins, Colleen Case, Arrin Dye, Raci Dallas, Madison Thomas, Hannah
12 Williamson, Abby Pruitt, Cam Neathery, Rachel Collins, Lauren Nobles, Sydney Leija,
13 Shelbie Gooden, Leann Franks, Grace Underwood, Cassidy Case, Morgan Cruise, Kelsey
14 Wyatt, Gracie Wilson, and Lilly Cupp, all of whom contributed to the team's success, and
15 each of whom merits recognition and congratulations for her outstanding play and winning
16 effort; and
17 WHEREAS, their commitment to teamwork propelled them forward, rolling through
18 the quarterfinals and semifinals and ending their remarkable regular season with an overall

1 season record of 26-11; and 
2 WHEREAS, the Lady Dragon's 3-2 game victory over district co-champions, the
3 Sterlington High School Lady Panthers, captured the Class 2A 2017 Allstate
4 Sugarbowl/LHSAA State Championship title; and
5 WHEREAS, head coach Scott Wilcher, and assistant coaches Susie Mullins,
6 Jonathon Hoggatt, and April Hardie are all to be commended for leading the Lady Dragons
7 to their first state championship title in the history of Mangham High School; and 
8 WHEREAS, the members of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana wish to
9 recognize each of these extraordinary young women and their coaches on their
10 much-deserved championship title earned through teamwork, determination, and dedication
11 to the sport and each other.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Mangham High
14 School Lady Dragons softball team on an impressive and memorable season, and on
15 capturing the Class 2A 2017 Allstate Sugarbowl/LHSAA State Championship title.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
17 Mangham High School and Junior High School principal Connie Williams and head softball
18 coach Scott Wilcher.
