SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 166
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Melba Jean Angelle.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Melba Jean Angelle,
age eighty-five, on May 25, 2017; and 
WHEREAS, Melba Jean Angelle, born on January 20, 1932, was a native of
Broussard and a resident of Carencro for most of her life where she was a parishioner of Our
Lady of Assumption Catholic Church; and 
WHEREAS, she retired with Cathedral Carmel School Cafeteria as the Dietary
Manager; and 
WHEREAS, Melba Jean Angelle was preceded in death by her husband of over sixty
years, Loomus J. Angelle; her parents, Rodolphe Jean Louis and the former Elizabeth Jones;
one grandson, John Mulzac; two brothers, Roy Jones and Pierre Jones; and five sisters,
Hazel Howard, Mabel Prejean, Elizabeth James, Louise Compton and Lillian Jones; and 
WHEREAS, her survivors include one son, Jeffrey Keith Angelle and his wife, Lou
Anna; two daughters, Sebrena Angelle and Marie Angelle Anderson and her husband,
Reolan; one granddaughter, Jaimie Valliere and her husband, Donald Jr.; and two
great-grandchildren, Deion Valliere and Olivia Valliere; and 
WHEREAS, Melba Jean Angelle was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife,
mother, grandmother, and friend and her passing has left a void in her family, friends, and
community and she will be greatly missed; and
WHEREAS, the memory of Melba Jean Angelle will remain eternal in the hearts and
minds of her family, friends, and of all those who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, she was an extraordinary woman who shall forever be remembered for
her life's work and accomplishments.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express its sincere and heartfelt condolence to the family of Melba Jean Angelle
on the occasion of her passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Melba Jean Angelle.
