SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 169

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the administrators, faculty, and students at Parkway High
School on their accomplishments and achievements during the 2016-2017 school year.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the administrators, faculty, and students at Parkway High School on their
3 accomplishments and achievements during the 2016-2017 school year.
4 WHEREAS, Parkway High School is located in Bossier City, Louisiana; and
5 WHEREAS, during the 2016-2017 school year, multiple noteworthy achievements
6 and accomplishments were realized; and
7 WHEREAS, Vanessa Stott was selected Teacher of the Year and the Student of the
8 Year honor was awarded to Tori Feaster; and
9 WHEREAS, Parkway High School received a 105 A rated school performance score
10 during the 2016-2017 school year; and
11 WHEREAS, it has the second largest Air Force Junior ROTC in Louisiana, offering
12 two years of CORE and two years of dual enrollment courses; and
13 WHEREAS, the Parkway High School marching band beat thirty-three high schools
14 from Louisiana and Texas to receive grand champion status at the 28th Annual Classic on
15 the Cane Marching Band Competition in Natchitoches, Louisiana; and
16 WHEREAS, there were several team and individual winners at the state level in
17 athletic competition; and
18 WHEREAS, Parkway High School was selected as one of the cleanest campuses in

1 North Louisiana; and
2 WHEREAS, the school offers multiple dual enrollment and advance placement
3 courses; and
4 WHEREAS, student groups partnered with community service agencies and
5 charitable organizations to make a difference in the Bossier City community; and
6 WHEREAS, more than two million dollars in scholarship opportunities were
7 awarded during the 2016-2017 school year; and
8 WHEREAS, Cyber Patriot National Finals ranked in the top one percent and received
9 eight straight Distinguished Unit Awards; and
10 WHEREAS, to better prepare students to enter the global marketplace upon
11 graduation, the school offered technology-based instruction throughout all courses; and
12 WHEREAS, the administrators, faculty, and students of Parkway High School merit
13 a special measure of commendation and recognition for their noteworthy accomplishments
14 and achievements during the 2016-2017 school year.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
16 does hereby commend and congratulate the administrators, faculty, and students of Parkway
17 High School; does hereby record for posterity their outstanding accomplishments and
18 achievements during the 2016-2017 school year; and does hereby extend enduring
19 appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor they bring to the Bossier City community
20 and the state of Louisiana.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
22 principal of Parkway High School.
