SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 169

A RESOLUTION
To commend the administrators, faculty, and students at Parkway High School on their
accomplishments and achievements during the 2016-2017 school year.
WHEREAS, Parkway High School is located in Bossier City, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, during the 2016-2017 school year, multiple noteworthy achievements
and accomplishments were realized; and
WHEREAS, Vanessa Stott was selected Teacher of the Year and the Student of the
Year honor was awarded to Tori Feaster; and
WHEREAS, Parkway High School received a 105 A rated school performance score
during the 2016-2017 school year; and
WHEREAS, it has the second largest Air Force Junior ROTC in Louisiana, offering
two years of CORE and two years of dual enrollment courses; and
WHEREAS, the Parkway High School marching band beat thirty-three high schools
from Louisiana and Texas to receive grand champion status at the 28th Annual Classic on
the Cane Marching Band Competition in Natchitoches, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, there were several team and individual winners at the state level in
athletic competition; and
WHEREAS, Parkway High School was selected as one of the cleanest campuses in
North Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the school offers multiple dual enrollment and advance placement
courses; and
WHEREAS, student groups partnered with community service agencies and
charitable organizations to make a difference in the Bossier City community; and
WHEREAS, more than two million dollars in scholarship opportunities were
awarded during the 2016-2017 school year; and

WHEREAS, Cyber Patriot National Finals ranked in the top one percent and received
eight straight Distinguished Unit Awards; and
WHEREAS, to better prepare students to enter the global marketplace upon
graduation, the school offered technology-based instruction throughout all courses; and
WHEREAS, the administrators, faculty, and students of Parkway High School merit
a special measure of commendation and recognition for their noteworthy accomplishments
and achievements during the 2016-2017 school year.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate the administrators, faculty, and students of Parkway
High School; does hereby record for posterity their outstanding accomplishments and
achievements during the 2016-2017 school year; and does hereby extend enduring
appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor they bring to the Bossier City community
and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Parkway High School.
