2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 182 BY SENATORS ERDEY, LAMBERT AND WHITE A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate the Lady Rockets softball team of Holden High School upon winning the 2017 Class B state championship. WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets of Holden High School created an unforgettable season in 2017, posting an overall record of 33 wins and one loss, including 24 wins over teams with a winning record; 10 wins over teams with twenty-plus wins; 17 wins over teams which reached the second round of the state playoffs; 11 wins over teams which made the state tournament; two wins over teams which were state runners-up; and one win over another state champion; and WHEREAS, during the state tournament, the Lady Rockets scored 17 runs while allowing only one run, and for the season, the team outscored their opponents 226 to 33; and WHEREAS, with the win over the Stanley High School Lady Panthers in the title game, the Lady Rockets secured the first state softball championship in Holden High School history, and Olivia Lackie was named the Class B Most Outstanding Player; and WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets roster includes Taylor Barfield, Olivia Barnes, Ashley Fogg, Shelby Forbes, Taylor Forbes, Hannah Harris, Emma Hutchinson, Madison McKnight, Olivia Lackie, Breanna Reason, Hanah Sance, and Ashleigh Spears, each of whom worked hard and excelled; and WHEREAS, the team was guided by Head Coach David Knight, Assistant Coach Linzey Cifreo, Athletic Director Pam Forbes, and Assistant Principal Rusty Hutchinson; and WHEREAS, at the same time and in addition to their athletic prowess, the Lady Rockets players posted a cumulative 3.5 plus GPA; and WHEREAS, the success of the Lady Rockets is a source of pride to their families, school, community, and state. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 182 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the Lady Rockets Softball Team of Holden High School on capturing the 2017 Class B state championship, the school's first softball state championship, and does hereby extend best wishes for continued success in future endeavors.
