COMMENDATIONS. Commends Robert "Andre" Ardeneaux of the St. Tammany Parish
Sheriff's Office on being the recipient of the 2017 Deputy of the Year Award presented by
the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Robert "Andre" Ardeneaux of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office on
3 being the recipient of the 2017 Deputy of the Year Award presented by the Louisiana
4 Sheriffs' Association.
5 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association presents the Deputy of the Year
6 Award to recognize a deputy sheriff who has shown unusual initiative and imagination in
7 the performance of his/her duty, and recognizes activities that improve the quality of life in
8 their community; and
9 WHEREAS, Deputy Andre Ardeneaux began employment with the St. Tammany
10 Parish Sheriff's Office in 2007; and
11 WHEREAS, during his tenure, he has served as a model employee who prides
12 himself on his professionalism, personality, and passion for his career in law enforcement;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Deputy Ardeneaux exemplified bravery and selflessness during several
15 situations that few law enforcement officers will ever encounter in their career; and
16 WHEREAS, in March 2016, while on approved vacation leave, Deputy Ardeneaux
17 assisted in evacuations during unexpected flooding in Covington, Louisiana; and
18 WHEREAS, during these rescue missions, Deputy Ardeneaux suffered torn

1 ligaments in his shoulder which required surgery; and
2 WHEREAS, shortly after Deputy Ardeneaux's recovery from this injury he decided
3 to participate in an organ donor matching program; and
4 WHEREAS, through a rare twist of fate, Deputy Ardeneaux was a perfect match for
5 a law enforcement officer in a neighboring parish, Sergeant Jason Triche; and
6 WHEREAS, Sergeant Triche was the surviving victim of a law enforcement officer
7 ambush shooting in St. John the Baptist Parish, and he was in dire need of a kidney; and
8 WHEREAS, Deputy Ardeneaux donated his kidney and provided a fellow law
9 enforcement officer the opportunity to live a normal life with his family and the ability to
10 return to his career in law enforcement.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
12 does hereby commend and congratulate Deputy Robert "Andre" Ardeneaux on being the
13 recipient of the 2017 Deputy of the Year Award from the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association;
14 does hereby recognize his selfless acts both during the flood and through kidney donation;
15 does hereby recognize and record for posterity his tireless dedication and service to the
16 citizens of St. Tammany Parish and the state of Louisiana; and does hereby extend to him
17 best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
19 Deputy Robert "Andre" Ardeneaux.
