COMMENDATIONS. Commends Dr. Kyle Machen on being named the 2017-2018 Bossier
Parish Middle School Principal of the Year.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Dr. Kyle Machen on being named the 2017-2018 Bossier Parish Middle
3 School Principal of the Year.
4 WHEREAS, Dr. Kyle Machen graduated from Airline High School and earned his
5 doctorate in 2013; and
6 WHEREAS, he was a teacher and coach at Airline High School; and
7 WHEREAS, he was an assistant principal at Benton Middle School before becoming
8 its principal; and
9 WHEREAS, Dr. Machen was accepted to the Louisiana Superintendent Academy;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, his father, D.C. Machen, was Superintendent of Bossier Parish Schools
12 and his wife, Lori, is a teacher at Kingston Elementary School where his twin daughters are
13 students and will be fourth graders; and
14 WHEREAS, Dr. Machen's oldest daughter will be in the eighth grade at Benton
15 Middle School; and
16 WHEREAS, his children are very involved in community-based sports, including
17 soccer and his oldest daughter also participates in basketball; and
18 WHEREAS, Dr. Machen is an active member of First Bossier Church; and

1 WHEREAS, he is also active in the Bossier community and participated in many
2 service projects, including the Day of Service that was organized in conjunction with United
3 Way and Camp Rainman through the Helping Hearts Campaign; and
4 WHEREAS, Dr. Machen's vision is "Expectation of Excellence in Academics,
5 Athletics, Community Service, and the Arts"; and
6 WHEREAS, Dr. Machen leads Benton Middle School, a high performing middle
7 school, with an emphasis on professional learning communities; and
8 WHEREAS, he is considered a forerunner on innovative middle school educational
9 trends; and
10 WHEREAS, Dr. Machen's professional accolades include seventeen years as an
11 educator and four years as a principal; and
12 WHEREAS, it is fitting to commend Dr. Kyle Machen for being named the
13 2017-2018 Bossier Parish Middle School Principal of the Year.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
15 does hereby commend Dr. Kyle Machen upon his recognition as the 2017-2018 Bossier
16 Parish Middle School Principal of the Year and does hereby extend best wishes for
17 continued success as he cultivates the best and brightest of Louisiana's children and inspires
18 them to achieve excellence in the years to come.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dr.
20 Kyle Machen.
