2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 205 BY SENATOR GATTI A RESOLUTION To commend Nichole Nuccio on being named the 2017-2018 Bossier Parish High School Teacher of the Year. WHEREAS, Nichole Nuccio is a highly motivated educator with a genuine interest in the development of the whole child; and WHEREAS, she received her associate's degree in business and computer science from the Bossier Parish Community College in 2004; and WHEREAS, Ms. Nuccio attended Louisiana Tech University and graduated with a bachelor of art's degree in general studies in 2007 and a master's degree in teaching from Northwestern State University in 2013; and WHEREAS, in May 2017, she received her master's degree plus 30 hours STEM Education certification; and WHEREAS, Ms. Nuccio also received her New Tech Network and Project Based Learning certification in 2011, as well as her New Tech Network PBL Facilitator Trainer and New Tech Network Literacy Facilitator certifications in 2012; and WHEREAS, she was an educator at Bossier High School from August 2013 to May 2015 and currently teaches at Plain Dealing High School; and WHEREAS, as a physical science facilitator at Bossier High School, Ms. Nuccio served on the School Building and Level Committee, was a McKinney-Vento tutor, was selected Bossier Optimist Club High School Teacher of the Year, 4-H Club leader, Student-2-Student sponsor, and the recipient of grant awards from Bidenharn Endowment and Quality Science and Math; and WHEREAS, at Plain Dealing High School, she teaches honors and nonhonors Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 205 ENROLLED physical science, STEM, is a robotics facilitator, and a jump start facilitator; and WHEREAS, Ms. Nuccio was the team leader for the American Heart Association Heart Walk in 2015, was a recipient of the Bidenharn Endowment, the Century Link Technology grants in 2016, was awarded the Secured Annual Quality Science and Math grant in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and received the AFCEA Science Teacher Tools grant in 2017; and WHEREAS, she teaches Cyber Discovery and STEM- Discovery at Louisiana Tech University, is on the Principal's Professional Learning Community Leadership Team, is a junior class sponsor, color guard sponsor, Cyber Patriot Team sponsor, Robotics/STEM Team sponsor, and an Active LEAP tutor for eighth grade students; and WHEREAS, Ms. Nuccio is a member of several professional organizations, including the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, the National Science Teachers Association, and the Louisiana Science Teachers Association; and WHEREAS, she has received numerous awards, including the 2017-2018 Plain Dealing High School Teacher of the Year, Bossier Optimist Club Teacher of the Year, Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing High School Teacher of the Year, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Longevity Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and a fourteen-year recipient of the Army Service Ribbon; and WHEREAS, Ms. Nuccio believes that children need to be made aware that regardless of their past or current circumstances, there are many opportunities awaiting them if they are willing to open their minds, work hard, and believe in themselves; and WHEREAS, her commitment to academic excellence and citizenship beyond the classroom is shown through her implementation of technology in lessons, encouraging collaboration and good work ethic among students, and engaging students in the importance of community involvement; and WHEREAS, Nichole Nuccio merits a special measure of commendation and recognition for her selection as the 2017-2018 Bossier Parish High School Teacher of the Year and for the manner in which she encourages her students to believe in themselves, be the best that they can be, and make a positive impact in their community. Page 2 of 3 SR NO. 205 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Nichole Nuccio on being named the 2017-2018 Bossier Parish High School Teacher of the Year and does hereby extend best wishes for continued success as she cultivates the best and brightest of Louisiana's children and inspires them to achieve excellence in the years to come.
