Express condolences upon the death of Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 death of Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the 5 Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Ethel Mae LeBleu 6 Precht, age seventy-nine, on June 6, 2017; and 7 WHEREAS, Ethel Precht, a lifelong resident of Cameron Parish, was born 8 September 25, 1937, in Big Lake, raised in Sweet Lake, Louisiana, and a 1955 graduate of 9 Grand Lake High School; and 10 WHEREAS, during her younger years, she was an avid bowler and was a member 11 of a number of leagues throughout the years; she also enjoyed playing softball, granny 12 basketball, and more recently took up racquet ball with her husband and was also known to 13 drive a combine for the family farm; and 14 WHEREAS, Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht was a self-taught artist and had a stand-in roll 15 in "Little Chenier"; and 16 WHEREAS, Ethel was also a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, the Order 17 of the Eastern Star, past member of the Handel's Messiah Choir, and was active with the 18 Council on Aging; and Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 213 SLS 17RS-3129 ORIGINAL 1 WHEREAS, she was a breast cancer survivor and began the Ethel Precht Hope 2 Breast Cancer Foundation, which just hosted its 12th annual Walk for Hope; she also started 3 the HOPE (Helping Others through Personal Experiences), where she visited with and 4 helped guide abused women; and 5 WHEREAS, Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht was a very respected woman in Southwest 6 Louisiana and was awarded Citizen of the Year for Lake Charles, the Citizen of Year Award 7 for Louisiana, and the honor of carrying the Olympic Torch in 1996; and 8 WHEREAS, she enjoyed traveling and spending time on the water and had been on 9 over forty cruises; and 10 WHEREAS, Ethel Precht started life as a shy young lady, but the impact of having 11 breast cancer and surviving, changed her life forever and the impact she has made on the 12 community throughout the years will be felt for many years to come; and 13 WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Granger 14 LeBleu, and sister, Betty LeBleu LaBove; and 15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Precht leaves a life legacy of her husband of sixty-one years, 16 Charles Precht Jr.; sons, Charles (Donna) Precht and Kelly (Corrie) Precht; eight 17 grandchildren, Kari Precht, Kourtney (Bobby) LaFargue, Ashton Precht, David (Megan) 18 Daigle, Brian (Tori) Daigle, Natalie (Corey) Leger, Adam (Alicia) Precht, and Molly Precht; 19 and great-grandchildren, Keighan Precht, Brady LaFargue, Hunter Daigle, Easton Daigle, 20 Grayson Daigle, Luke Daigle, August Leger, Maren Leger, Blakely Precht and Darby 21 Precht; and 22 WHEREAS, because of her numerous accomplishments, Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht's 23 passing has left a void in her community and in her state and has created a genuine sense of 24 profound sorrow in her friends and family; and 25 WHEREAS, the success of our state, the strength of our communities, and the overall 26 vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon women like Ethel Mae LeBleu 27 Precht. 28 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 29 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Ethel Mae LeBleu 30 Precht, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her exceptional accomplishments and Page 2 of 3 SR NO. 213 SLS 17RS-3129 ORIGINAL 1 singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor 2 that this wonderful woman will forever bring to her family, friends, community, and the state 3 of Louisiana. 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 5 husband of Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht, Charles Precht Jr. The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jerry J.
