Expresses condolences on the passing of Lucille Trahan Picard. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 death of Lucille Trahan Picard of Maurice, Louisiana. 4 WHEREAS, Lucille Trahan Picard, age one hundred four, died peacefully at her 5 home in Maurice, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family; and 6 WHEREAS, Lucille Trahan Picard was born to Demas Trahan and Cecile Vincent 7 Trahan in the Meaux/Leroy community in Louisiana, however, she had been a resident of 8 Maurice for the past eighty years; and 9 WHEREAS, as Mrs. Picard's life spanned many decades and despite the changes in 10 American and Acadiana lifestyles, drew pride from her important role as wife and mother, 11 roles in which she flourished; and 12 WHEREAS, Lucille Picard was a proud wife to her husband, Esson Picard, and 13 mother to her three children, Delores Picard Faulk, Phyllis Picard Mautrin, and Kenneth 14 "Keno" Picard, all of whom live in Maurice; and 15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard was a dedicated partner with her husband in their rice 16 farming and cattle business and she was often seen riding with him checking both their crops 17 and their cattle; and 18 WHEREAS, Lucille Picard was an especially gifted cook and she was well-known Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 43 SLS 17RS-560 ORIGINAL 1 for her delicious family dinners and the meals she offered to all who assisted in the 2 harvesting of their yearly rice crop; and 3 WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard loved to play bouree, a game she particularly enjoyed 4 playing with her weekly group with whom she gathered to play for over sixty years; and 5 WHEREAS, until her illness, which began in November, 2016, at the age of one 6 hundred three, Lucille Picard led a very active life, sharing her life and love with her family 7 and many friends; and 8 WHEREAS, Lucille Picard found her greatest joy in her close knit and amazing 9 family, spanning four generations, and all shared in her time spent with them and the love 10 she shared with her family, her legacy; and 11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard was a devout Catholic and faithfully prayed the rosary 12 several times daily, offering her friends and family an example to be respected and followed 13 by any person of faith; and 14 WHEREAS, Lucille Trahan Picard left for her family an inheritance filled with 15 countless memories, love, joy, religious faith, and a long life well lived. 16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 17 does hereby express the sincere condolences upon the death of Lucille Trahan Picard of 18 Maurice, Louisiana. 19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mrs. 20 Picard's children, Delores Picard Faulk, Phyllis Picard Mautrin, and Kenneth "Keno" Picard.
