2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 43 BY SENATOR PERRY A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Lucille Trahan Picard of Maurice, Louisiana. WHEREAS, Lucille Trahan Picard, age one hundred four, died peacefully at her home in Maurice, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family; and WHEREAS, Lucille Trahan Picard was born to Demas Trahan and Cecile Vincent Trahan in the Meaux/Leroy community in Louisiana, however, she had been a resident of Maurice for the past eighty years; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard's life spanned many decades, and, despite the changes in American and Acadiana lifestyles, she drew pride from her important role as wife and mother, roles in which she flourished; and WHEREAS, Lucille Picard was a proud wife to her husband, Esson Picard, and mother to her three children, Delores Picard Faulk, Phyllis Picard Mautrin, and Kenneth "Keno" Picard, all of whom live in Maurice; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard was a dedicated partner with her husband in their rice farming and cattle business and she was often seen riding with him checking both their crops and their cattle; and WHEREAS, Lucille Picard was an especially gifted cook and she was well-known for her delicious family dinners and the meals she offered to all who assisted in the harvesting of their yearly rice crop; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard loved to play bouree, a game she particularly enjoyed playing with her weekly group with whom she gathered to play for over sixty years; and WHEREAS, until her illness, which began in November, 2016, at the age of one hundred three, Lucille Picard led a very active life, sharing her life and love with her family and many friends; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 43 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Lucille Picard found her greatest joy in her close knit and amazing family, spanning four generations, and all shared in her time spent with them and the love she shared with her family, her legacy; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Picard was a devout Catholic and faithfully prayed the rosary several times daily, offering her friends and family an example to be respected and followed by any person of faith; and WHEREAS, Lucille Trahan Picard left for her family an inheritance filled with countless memories, love, joy, religious faith, and a long life well lived. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express the sincere condolences upon the death of Lucille Trahan Picard of Maurice, Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mrs. Picard's children, Delores Picard Faulk, Phyllis Picard Mautrin, and Kenneth "Keno" Picard.
