COMMENDATIONS. Commends XS Martial Arts Dojo and Save One Now for presenting
the 10
th
Annual Crescent City Kumite being held on May 20, 2017.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend XS Martial Arts Dojo and Save One Now for presenting the Tenth Annual
3 Crescent City Kumite.
4 WHEREAS, XS Martial Arts Dojo enhances positive leadership, crime
5 prevention/intervention, life skills, bully awareness/prevention, self-esteem, character
6 building and discipline for youth and adults by offering martial arts training through after
7 school programming, all day camps, physical education programs in schools, and a
8 Leadership Training Academy for military veterans and former athletes; and
9 WHEREAS, Master Jason B. Horne is the founder and master instructor of the
10 MA-KIBO-KARATE-DO system of XS Martial Arts Dojo (XS MAD); and
11 WHEREAS, he received his associate's degree from Delgado Community College
12 and served in the United States military for twenty-one years; and
13 WHEREAS, Master Horne has dedicated over twenty-five years of his life to martial
14 arts, holds a 6th-degree black belt in various styles, and has been inducted into the Martial
15 Arts World Hall of Fame twice (2008 and 2010) for his humanitarian work; and
16 WHEREAS, his philanthropic efforts have been consistent, as he is also the founder
17 and executive director of S.O.N. (Save One Now), a nonprofit organization that focuses on
18 the families and youth of the metropolitan New Orleans area; and

1 WHEREAS, S.O.N. reinforces XS MAD's anticrime efforts in schools and
2 communities throughout the city; and
3 WHEREAS, Master Horne graduated from the first cohort of the Goldman Sachs
4 10,000 Small Businesses initiative, and has impacted over 1,000 students; and
5 WHEREAS, he is dedicated to keeping kids off the street and giving them something
6 constructive to do with their time, he believes that by instilling these principles in all youth,
7 it will produce positive and respectable individuals; and
8 WHEREAS, on May 20, 2017, XS Martial Arts Dojo and Save One Now will present
9 the Tenth Annual Crescent City Kumite.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
11 does hereby commend XS Martial Arts Dojo and Save One Now.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Jason B. Horne.
