SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 50

LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS. Recognizes April 27, 2017, as Louisiana Society of
Professional Surveyors Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To recognize Thursday, April 27, 2017, as Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Day
3 at the Louisiana State Capitol.
4 WHEREAS, professional surveying is celebrating one hundred nine years of
5 licensure, first issuing licenses numbered one, two, and three to J.B. Bice, C.P. Couvillion,
6 and R.A. Crowson, respectively, in 1908; and
7 WHEREAS, in April 2011, the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors hosted
8 their Fiftieth Annual Conference; and
9 WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are compelled to follow rules of
10 professional conduct in order to safeguard life and health, to protect property, to promote the
11 welfare of the public, and to establish and maintain a high standard of integrity in the
12 performance of their professional duties; and
13 WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors at all times recognize that their primary
14 obligation is to protect the safety, health, property, and welfare of the public; and
15 WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are committed to cooperating with
16 educational institutions in the maintenance of high standards of education in land surveying;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are committed to maintaining the

1 highest levels of professional quality and to keeping abreast of the most advanced
2 technology in their field, including utilizing global positioning, mapping, and spatial
3 referencing, as they seek to ensure that they provide state-of-the-art surveying services to
4 the citizens of Louisiana.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby recognize and commend the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors and
7 their members across the state for their significant contributions in service to the citizens of
8 Louisiana since licenses were first issued in 1908.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does
10 hereby recognize Thursday, April 27, 2017, as Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors
11 Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
13 Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors.
