Expresses the condolences of the Louisiana Senate upon the death of Louisiana Army National Guard Sergeant Charles Voisin. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of 3 Louisiana to the family of Louisiana Army National Guard Sergeant Charles Voisin 4 upon his death. 5 WHEREAS, Charles Voisin was a resident of Plaquemine at the time of his death and 6 a native of Central, Louisiana, where he attended local schools and was considered a very 7 bright student with many friends in the community; and 8 WHEREAS, Charles Voisin enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard after 9 high school, meeting every challenge the military presented, and was deeply satisfied with 10 his decision to serve his country; and 11 WHEREAS, he was promoted to Sergeant once his superior officers recognized his 12 unique leadership talents and his willingness to carry out all missions he and his troops were 13 given; and 14 WHEREAS, in 2013, Sergeant Voisin and his soldiers received deployment orders 15 for Afghanistan, and he and his unit, the 1084th Transportation Company, were soon serving 16 in the combat theater performing the dangerous job of providing the transportation needs of 17 his combat Brigade across the Afghan countryside; and 18 WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin saw much of the ugly, dirty side of the war he was Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 65 SLS 17RS-85 ORIGINAL 1 fighting, and all the many injustices that exist during times of war, but he kept those dark 2 memories to himself and busied himself with the welfare of his troops; and 3 WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin returned home from his combat experience with a new 4 appreciation for his family, friends and community, and was always willing to lend a helping 5 hand; and 6 WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin was 24 years old when he suddenly passed away at his 7 residence in Plaquemine, LA, on Friday, April 22, 2016, leaving no explanation for his 8 untimely death; and 9 WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin was survived by his mother, Kathryn Voisin; sisters 10 Jenny Voisin Dupuy, Samantha, Taylor, Irene, and Lauren; his grandmother, Annie Voisin 11 Gilchrist; and grandfather, Zigmont Molesky; and 12 WHEREAS, he was predeceased by his father, Charles "Eddie" Voisin Sr.; 13 grandmother, Irene Romero Molesky; grandfathers, Martin Voisin and Ray "Rabbit" 14 Gilchrist. 15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 16 does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of Louisiana 17 Army National Guard Sergeant Charles Eddie Voisin for their immeasurable loss, and 18 gratitude for his courageous service to his country. 19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 20 Sergeant Voisin's mother, Kathryn Voisin.
