SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 65

CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HEWITT, JOHNS,

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana to the family of Louisiana Army National Guard Sergeant Charles Eddie
Voisin Jr. upon his death.
WHEREAS, Charles Voisin was a resident of Denham Springs at the time of his
death and a native of Central, Louisiana, where he attended local schools and was considered
a very bright student with many friends in the community; and
WHEREAS, Charles Voisin enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard after
high school, meeting every challenge the military presented, and was deeply satisfied with
his decision to serve his country; and
WHEREAS, he was promoted to Sergeant once his superior officers recognized his
unique leadership talents and his willingness to carry out all missions he and his troops were
given; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, Sergeant Voisin and his soldiers received deployment orders
for Afghanistan, and he and his unit, the 1084th Transportation Company, were soon serving
in the combat theater performing the dangerous job of providing the transportation needs of
his combat Brigade across the Afghan countryside; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin busied himself with the welfare of his troops and
returned home from his combat experience with a new appreciation for his family, friends,
and community and was always willing to lend a helping hand; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin was 24 years old when he passed away at his residence
in Denham Springs, Louisiana, on Friday, April 22, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Voisin was survived by his mother, Kathryn Voisin; sisters
Samantha, Taylor, Irene, and Lauren Voisin and Jenny Voisin Dupuy; his grandmother,
Annie Voisin Gilchrist; and grandfather, Zigmont Molesky; and
WHEREAS, he was predeceased by his father, Charles "Eddie" Voisin Sr.;
grandmother, Irene Romero Molesky; grandfathers, Martin Voisin and Ray "Rabbit"
Gilchrist; and
WHEREAS, his military awards and decorations include the Army Commendation
Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal,
National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global
War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device,
Army Service Ribbon, the Louisiana War Cross, the Louisiana Emergency Service Medal,
and the Louisiana General Excellence Medal.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of Louisiana
Army National Guard Sergeant Charles Eddie Voisin Jr. for their immeasurable loss, and
gratitude for his courageous service to his country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Sergeant Voisin's mother, Kathryn Voisin.
