COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Holy Cross boys' soccer team for winning the 2018
Allstate Sugar Bowl Division II championship
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Holy Cross boys' soccer team for winning the 2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl
3 Division II championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Tigers boys' soccer team faced off against the Beau
5Chene Gators in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Allstate Sugar Bowl
6Division II championship at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin' Cajun Soccer
7Facility on February 22, 2018, in a game that featured the two top-seeded teams in
8Louisiana; and
9 WHEREAS, players on each team were competing for their school's first-ever state
10title in soccer, and for the eventual champion Tigers, it was a formidable task in front of a
11boisterous crowd composed two-thirds of fans from the opposing team; and
12 WHEREAS, despite falling behind by a score of 0-1 in the first half, Holy Cross
13Coach Matt Millet rallied his players at halftime; the Tigers scored twice within a span of
14sixty seconds to take a 2-1 lead with a game-tying goal by Ethan Garvey and a go-ahead
15score by Most Outstanding Player Sebastian Aguilar; the final score of 3-1 was achieved on
16a goal by Chad Cadiere; and
17 WHEREAS, the championship team assembled by Stuart Hayers, director of soccer;
18Matt Millet, associate head coach; Jonathan Largaespaeda, assistant coach; Eric Kastroup
19and David Wright, trainers; Dr. Joseph Murry, principal; Sean Martin, headmaster; and Steve
20Costa, athletic director, demonstrated dedication in practice and excellence in performance,

1and each member of the Holy Cross boys' soccer team deserves mention: seniors Sebastian
2Aguilar, Blake Baldassaro, Alejandro Burgos, Joseph Gerarve, Jude Heidingsfelder, Ethan
3Jones, and Teodoro Monthey; juniors Thomas Dugal, Andre Farnet, Josue Fuentes, Ethan
4Garvey, Nolan Heitmeier, Luke Lafrance, Hayden Manuel, and Alex Paradis; sophomores
5Chad Cadiere, Elijah Rodriguez, and Andrew Smith; and freshmen Rafael Bosley, Camden
6Carroll, Jake D'Agostino, Evan Jones, Dante Maraldo, Sinjin Mills, Cross Mitchell, and
7Jordan Schumacher; and
8 WHEREAS, the Holy Cross Tigers and their fans can celebrate an outstanding soccer
9season that featured a record of 20-3-2 which culminated in the achievement of the highest
10sports honor in the state, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division II
11championship in boys' soccer.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
13commend and congratulate the Holy Cross boys' soccer team, coaching and auxiliary staff,
14school administration, students, and supporters on the school's first-ever state championship
15and does hereby express best wishes for continued success in the future.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
17to Holy Cross School.
