SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 10

CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences on the death of Judge Clare Jupiter.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the passing of an
3 exceptional public servant and friend, Clare Jupiter, former Orleans Parish Civil
4 District Court Judge.
5 WHEREAS, Clare Jupiter led an extraordinary and blessed life as a reporter,
6 attorney, public servant, wife, and mother; and
7 WHEREAS, she was born in Chicago, Illinois, but reared in New Orleans, Louisiana,
8 where she attended and graduated from Saint Joseph Academy; and
9 WHEREAS, she earned an undergraduate degree from Yale University and embarked
10 on her career, first as a reporter for the New Orleans States-Item where she earned a
11 reputation as passionate, principled, and scrupulous; and
12 WHEREAS, in 1978, she earned a law degree from Duke University and become a
13 respected attorney in the community, always demonstrating integrity and honor when
14 representing her clients, including the Orleans Parish School Board; and
15 WHEREAS, in 2011, she won the Division E seat on the Orleans Parish Civil District
16 Court and then won a second term in 2014; and
17 WHEREAS, as a jurist, she was known and respected for being fair, honest, and
18 deeply principled; and

1 WHEREAS, she leaves behind a loving husband and two children, and countless
2 other friends and colleagues who have been touched by her friendship and years of public
3 service.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
5 express sincere condolences upon the death of Clare Jupiter, former Orleans Parish Civil
6 District Court Judge.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
8 family of Judge Clare Jupiter.
