SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7

COMMENDATIONS.  Commends the Rayville Junior High School Lady Hornets basketball
team upon winning the 2017 Louisiana State Games Middle School 8
th
 Grade Championship.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Rayville Junior High School
3 Lady Hornets basketball team on winning the 2017 Louisiana State Games Middle
4 School 8th Grade Championship.
5 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the
6 Legislature of Louisiana congratulate the Rayville Junior High School Lady Hornets
7 basketball team on their competitive spirit during their 2017 season that culminated in
8 winning the 2017 Louisiana State Games Middle School 8th Grade Championship; and
9 WHEREAS, the Rayville Junior High School Lady Hornets basketball team defeated
10 the Ruston Junior High School Bearkits by a score of forty-four to thirty-three to clinch the
11 championship title; and
12 WHEREAS, the members of the Rayville Junior High School Lady Hornets squad,
13 Asonti Collins, Rosemary Davis, Assyria Green, ZaQuandrea Jackson, Kendral Johnson,
14 Makayla Jones, Madison Lawrence, Brittany Moala, Samiyah Smith, Breanna Steele, Amari
15 West, Shelby Wicker, and Lalaina Wood merit recognition for their dedication to their team
16 and commitment to the sport; and 
17 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Amari West for scoring an average of over
18 twenty points per game during the championship tournament and for being named the

1 championship's most valuable player; and 
2 WHEREAS, it is further appropriate to commend Kendral Johnson, Brittany Moala,
3 Samiyah Smith, and Amari West for being named to the all tournament team; and 
4 WHEREAS, Coach Tammy Green Wilson and Assistant Coach Kesha Kelly, with
5 the support and assistance of Manager Charlisia Green, have instilled in their players the
6 kind of leadership and team skills needed to achieve great success on the basketball court
7 and in life; and 
8 WHEREAS, the Rayville Junior High School Lady Hornets bring a commanding
9 sense of honor and immense pride to their school, the town of Rayville, and the state of
10 Louisiana.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
12 does hereby commend and congratulate the players and coaches of the Rayville Junior High
13 School Lady Hornets basketball team on an impressive and memorable season and on
14 capturing the 2017 Louisiana State Games Middle School 8th Grade Championship.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Rayville Junior High School Principal Nettie Ranel and Head Basketball Coach
17 Tammy Green Wilson.
