COMMENDATIONS. Commends Gerald N. "Jerry" Giovaniello upon his retirement from
the National Association of REALTORS®.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Gerald N. "Jerry" Giovaniello upon his retirement from the National
3 Association of REALTORS® and to congratulate him for his thirty-seven years of
4 service to the real estate industry and property owners nationwide.
5 WHEREAS, Jerry Giovaniello joined the National Association of REALTORS® in
6 1981 from Capitol Hill, where he was chief of staff for two members of Congress; and
7 WHEREAS, from Legislative Director, to Senior Director, Vice President and as
8 Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, his tenure at the National Association of
9 REALTORS® has been marked by hundreds of public policy successes; and
10 WHEREAS, he was named the National Association of REALTORS® chief lobbyist
11 in 2001, and is a fixture in the halls of Congress where he has developed long-standing
12 relationships with legislators on both sides of the aisle; and
13 WHEREAS, Jerry Giovaniello is among Washington's most well-respected lobbyists,
14 and for thirty-seven years he has successfully advocated vital legislative and regulatory real
15 estate issues before Congress, the White House, and federal agencies for the nation's largest
16 trade association and its 1.3 million members; and
17 WHEREAS, under his direction, the National Association of REALTORS® achieved
18 numerous legislative and regulatory accomplishments, including securing the continuation

1 of the National Flood Insurance Program and persuading policymakers against slashing
2 homeowner tax benefits, such as mortgage interest and property tax deductions; and
3 WHEREAS, he has been broadly recognized for his leadership and was named a top
4 lobbyist by CEO Update, The Hill, and others, and he has been identified among the most
5 influential in real estate by the Swanepoel Power 200 and Inman News; and
6 WHEREAS, after thirty-seven years of service to the National Association of
7 REALTORS®, Jerry Giovaniello will retire at the end of 2018; and
8 WHEREAS, his tireless advocacy for the real estate industry and property owners
9 will benefit generations to come, and his presence will certainly be missed by those he has
10 served for so long.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
12 acknowledge the numerous outstanding accomplishments of Gerald N. "Jerry" Giovaniello
13 and congratulates him on his much deserved retirement, and wishes him success in all his
14 future endeavors.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Louisiana REALTORS® for presentation to Gerald N. "Jerry" Giovaniello.
