2018 Third Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22 BY SENATOR GARY SMITH A RESOLUTION To commend Mr. Juan A. Ramirez on the occasion of his ninety-eighth birthday to be celebrated on July 24, 2018, and to honor his lifetime of accomplishments. WHEREAS, it is altogether fitting and proper that the Senate of the state of Louisiana congratulates Juan A. Ramirez on the achievement of this milestone in life and honors him as an active and productive citizen of the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez was born July 24, 1920, in Belize, Central America and later became a United States citizen and attended Loyola University New Orleans before settling in LaPlace in 1980; and WHEREAS, Juan Ramirez married his wife, Dixie, on September 3, 1976, and the two of them raised her three children and have been blessed with twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, from 1984 to 1997, he was vice president and treasurer of Southwestern Title in LaPlace, where he worked with his beloved wife; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez is an active member of his community and has served as a member of the Airline Lions Club and the Senior Citizens Council of St. John the Baptist Parish; and WHEREAS, he is a lifetime member of the Monsignor Dennis Bergeron Knights of Columbus Council 5935, for which he was appointed financial secretary for three years by the Supreme Council in New Haven, Connecticut; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez is also a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus Archbishop Blenk Assembly and has served as district deputy and photographer for the state deputy of the Knights of Columbus Louisiana State Council; and WHEREAS, Mr. Juan Ramirez merits a special measure of commendation and recognition for the tremendous pride, kindness, and sense of purpose that he brings to his family, friends, community, and state. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 22 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Juan A. Ramirez on the occasion of his ninety-eighth birthday, does hereby recognize the extraordinary life he has lived thus far and the contributions he has made to his community, and does hereby wish him a full measure of happiness in the years to come.
