COMMENDAT IONS. Commends Aaron Warren of Shreveport, Louisiana, for being
selected to represent Louisiana at the HOBY World Leadership Congress.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Aaron Warren of Shreveport, Louisiana, for being selected as a candidate to
3 represent Louisiana at the HOBY World Leadership Congress to be held on July
4 21-28, 2018, at Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois.
5 WHEREAS, the Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership program was established
6 in 1958 by the popular Hollywood movie actor Hugh O'Brian after he was inspired by
7 spending nine days in Africa with Dr. Albert Schweitzer; and
8 WHEREAS, following the visit with Dr. Schweitzer, Hugh O'Brian returned to Los
9 Angeles and created an international organization designed to encourage young people to
10 take a leadership role in society and become catalysts for change; and
11 WHEREAS, Aaron Warren, a student at Evangel Christian Academy, son of Monica
12 Warren and Corey Levingston, attended the 2018 Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership
13 Seminar; and
14 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership program hosted
15 140 high school sophomores who represented their respective high schools throughout the
16 state; and
17 WHEREAS, the Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) World Leadership Congress is held
18 every year and brings together over 400 young leaders from the United States, Puerto Rico,

1 and 11 other countries for a weeklong intensive educational leadership conference; and
2 WHEREAS, the purpose of the HOBY World Leadership Congress is to provide
3 young leaders with an opportunity to learn firsthand about other cultures and opinions, form
4 friendships, exchange ideas in an environment where they can feel comfortable in open
5 discussion with their peers, and learn to voice how they have shaped and formed their own
6 views about the role of leadership in society; and
7 WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian believed the most important thing in education was to
8 teach young people to think for themselves, and the more than 475,000 HOBY alumni
9 demonstrate how this belief has influenced and inspired young people to become more
10 involved in their communities.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
12 does hereby commend and congratulate Aaron Warren upon being selected to represent the
13 Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program at the 2018 HOBY World Leadership
14 Congress in Chicago, Illinois, and does hereby recognize the pride and honor that this
15 wonderful young leader brings to his family, friends, school, community, and state.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
17 Mr. Aaron Warren and Mr. Bud Dean, principal of Evangel Christian Academy.
