HB 141 Original	2018 Regular Session	Leopold
Abstract: Allows non-resident coroners elected prior to Aug. 1, 2018, to remain in office if elected
in consecutive elections.
Present law requires the elected coroner to be a resident of the parish in which he is elected.
However, present law authorizes non-resident licensed physicians to run for office within the parish
if they maintain a full-time medical practice within the parish.
Proposed law deletes this present law exception for non-resident licensed physicians who maintain
a practice within the parish, and allows non-resident coroners elected prior to Aug. 1, 2018, to run
for re-election provided the terms are consecutive.
