Abstract: Establishes participation requirements for the La. Sheriffs' Certification Program.
Proposed law allows elected sheriffs to receive a nontransferable 7% salary increase for participation
in the La. Sheriffs' Certification Program. Participation requirements and eligibility include the
completion of training, certification, or education requirements or the attainment of law enforcement
experience. Provides that the La. Sheriffs' Executive Management Institute Board shall govern the
program.
Effective July 1, 2020.
