RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 80 (HB 290) 2018 Regular Session Jordan Prior law required the $25 royalty fee collected for use of the institution's design be paid to the institution for each license plate issued and required that the royalty fee collected for each public high school prestige license plate be forwarded to the respective school board of the school for which the plate was issued. New law clarifies that the $25 royalty fee collected by the Dept. of Transportation and Development for each public high school prestige license plate must be paid to the respective school board of the school for which the plate was issued and requires the school board to forward such fee to the institution. Existing law provides for the creation of special prestige license plates for Louisiana parochial, public, and private high schools, including Archbishop Hannan High School, Jesuit High School, Mount Carmel Academy, the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Saint Katharine Drexel Preparatory School, and Acadiana High School. New law adds Glen Oaks High School to the list of high schools for which a special prestige license plate will be established. Additionally, all existing law provisions applicable to special prestige license plates; such as creation, issuance, design, fees, distribution, and rule promulgation, are applicable to the "Glen Oaks High School" plate. Effective August 1, 2018. (Amends R.S. 47:463.73(C)(2), (D), and (G))
