Make technical changes. Report rejects Senate amendments which would have: 1. Made technical changes. 2. Authorized an operator of a commercial motor vehicle or bus who is employed by the Department of Transportation and Development to operate a commercial vehicle or bus, in the course and scope of employment, during a gubernatorially declared state of emergency or disaster with a Class "E" driver's license, in lieu of a commercial driver's license. Report amends the bill to: 1. Make technical changes. 2. Authorize an employee of the Department of Transportation and Development who is operating a bus, in the course and scope of employment, during a gubernatorially declared state of emergency or disaster to only be required to possess a Class "E" driver's license. Digest of the bill as proposed by the Conference Committee Present law allows an applicant regularly employed within the last 90 days in a military position requiring operation of a commercial motor vehicle to waive the skills test required to obtain a commercial driver's license. Proposed law authorizes a person regularly employed within the last 12 months in a military position requiring operation of a commercial motor vehicle to waive the skills test required to obtain a commercial driver's license. Proposed law specifies that only a Class "E" driver's license is required for an employee of the Dept. of Transportation and Development who is operating a bus, in the course and scope of his employment, during a gubernatorially declared state of emergency or disaster.
