ENROLLED 2018 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 427 BY REPRESENTATIVE MACK 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:663(B), relative to testing methods used by the Department 3 of Public Safety and Corrections; to provide for changes to the testing methods used 4 by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections; and to provide for related 5 matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 32:663(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8 ยง663. Approval of testing methods by Department of Public Safety and Corrections 9 * * * 10 B. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections may use an individual's 11 current certification to a nationally or internationally recognized certification body 12 or a laboratory's certification by one or more of the following professional 13 organizations current accreditation to an accreditation program based on the 14 international standard, ISO/IEC 17025, with an accreditation scope that includes 15 toxicology or blood alcohol, in its determination of the qualifications and 16 competence of individuals or laboratories as required by Subsection A of this Section 17 prior to the issuance of a permit. The certification by the following professional 18 organizations may be considered in issuing such permits: 19 (1) College of American Pathologists (CAP). 20 (2) American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT). 21 (3) Forensic Quality Services (FQS).
