ACT 323 (HB 516) 2018 Regular Session Guinn
Existing law authorizes parishes to create waterworks districts, which have control of water
systems in their respective districts. Provides for meetings of the board of commissioners
of any such district.
Existing law authorizes the parish governing authority to set a per diem of up to $60 for
waterworks district commissioners for attendance at up to 24 regular meetings and 12 special
meetings each year.
Prior law provided a maximum per diem of $100 for the commissioners of Jefferson Davis
Parish Water District #4 and the Jefferson Davis Central Waterworks District.
New law increases the maximum per diem for the commissioners of any waterworks district
located in Jefferson Davis Parish to $150.
New law, applicable to all Jefferson Davis Parish waterworks districts, provides that a per
diem increase requires a 2/3rds vote of the parish governing authority after a public hearing
that has been advertised twice in the official journal of the district.
Effective August 1, 2018.
