GREEN SHEET REDIGEST HB 52 2018 Regular Session Marcelle (KEYWORD, SUMMARY, AND DIGEST as amended by Senate committee amendments) MTR VEHICLE/LICEN PLATES: Creates the "Capitol High School" special prestige license plate. DIGEST Proposed law requires the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to issue special prestige license plates to be known as the "Capitol High School" license plate. Proposed law provides for the secretary to work in conjunction with an alumnus of Capitol High School and the state representative for House District No. 61 to select the color and design of the plate. Requires the design include the words "Capitol High School". Proposed law specifies that the license plate be issued, upon application, to any citizen of Louisiana in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate. Proposed law requires the department to collect an annual royalty fee of $25 for each plate issued and specifies that such fees be collected by the department and forwarded to the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board who shall forward the royalty fees received to the Capitol High School Alumni Association. Specifies that the monies received from the royalty fees shall be used to renovate and maintain the Capitol High School Auditorium and facilities. Proposed law requires the department to collect a handling fee of $3.50 for each plate, to be retained by the department to offset a portion of the administrative costs. Proposed law requires the secretary to promulgate and adopt rules and regulations to implement the provisions provided in proposed law.
