HB 58 Original	2018 Regular Session	Abraham
Abstract:  Requires the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office to pay 100% of certain group insurance
premiums for retirees hired on or after July 1, 2018, with at least 15 years of service with the
Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office who have attained the age of 55 years.
Present law requires the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office to pay group insurance premiums and the
first $10,000 of life insurance for all sheriff and deputy sheriff retirees with at least 15 years of
service who are at least 55 years of age or who retired with at least 30 years of service at any age. 
The premium payments shall be paid in full from the sheriff's general fund.
Proposed law requires the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office to pay group insurance premiums and the
first $10,000 of life insurance from the sheriff's general fund for eligible sheriff and deputy sheriff
retirees hired on or after July 1, 2018, who have at least 15 years of service with the Cameron Parish
Sheriff's Office and are at least 55 years of age.  Additionally, present law still applies to all sheriff
and sheriff deputies hired prior to July 1, 2018.
