ACT 714 (HB 669) 2018 Regular Session Marcelle
Prior law required a magistrate or judge of a court exercising jurisdiction to immediately
forward to the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections notice of failure to appear with
information necessary for identification of the arrested person, which automatically resulted
in the suspension of an operator's license.
New law authorizes, instead of requires, the magistrate or judge to determine whether to
suspend or place a hold on the renewal of the operator's license of the arrested person.
Effective August 1, 2018.
