Proposed law provides instead that the secretary shall appoint 11 members; removes provisions for
nominations and geographic restrictions on such appointments. Retains secretary and state archivist
as ex officio members.
Present law provides that board members shall serve without compensation but shall receive their
actual expenses incurred in attending any meeting of the board. Proposed law deletes provision for
payment of meeting expenses; otherwise retains present law.
Present law (R.S. 25:379.1) provides for the creation of the Regional Museum Governing Bd. of the
La. State Exhibit Museum within the Dept. of State. Requires that members have a knowledge of

present law.
Proposed law provides that the board shall be comprised of the following members: (1)10 members appointed by the secretary of state to serve two-year terms from the following

provisions for nomination and other restrictions on such appointments. Also replaces the museum
chief administrative officer and the museum director with the secretary of state or his designee and
the state archivist as ex officio members of the board.
