ACT 262 (HB 74) 2018 Regular Session Davis
New law requires the governing authority of each public school, including charter schools,
and each nonpublic school to provide parents with information about influenza and
vaccination against the influenza virus. Requires the state Dept. of Education (DOE) to
provide such information to parents of students enrolled in approved home study programs.
New law requires that such information include the causes and symptoms of influenza, the
means by which it is spread, and sources of additional information and vaccinations.
New law requires the La. Dept. of Health (LDH) develop and provide information about
influenza and the vaccination to DOE. Requires LDH, DOE, and each school governing
authority to determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of information
distribution. Requires LDH, in consultation with DOE, to establish rules for carrying out
new law.
Effective August 1, 2018.
