[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 764 Original 2018 Regular Session Bouie Abstract: Defines a "person who is released from incarceration " in reference to ex-offender provisional licenses. Present law requires the Dept of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, to issue a provisional class "E" driver's license to a person who is released from incarceration after serving a minimum of one year and whose class "E" driver's license will be or is suspended, revoked, or cancelled for any reason upon his release. Proposed law defines a "person who is released from incarceration" as an individual who is housed in a federal residential reentry management center, also known as a halfway house, for the purposes of present law.
