HLS 18RS-467 ENGROSSED 2018 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 82 BY REPRESENTATIVE STEFANSKI INSURANCE/GROUP: Provides relative to group insurance benefits for the office of the Acadia Parish clerk of court 1 AN ACT 2To enact R.S. 13:783(F)(10), relative to group insurance expenses of the clerk of court's 3 office; to provide for the payment of group insurance premiums for retirees of the 4 Acadia Parish clerk of court; and to provide for related matters. 5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 13:783(F)(10) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 §783. Expenses of clerk's office 8 * * * 9 F. 10 * * * 11 (10) The clerk of court of Acadia Parish shall pay from the clerk's salary 12 fund one hundred percent of the premium costs of the group life and accidental death 13 and dismemberment, group health, accident, dental, hospital, surgical, or other 14 medical expense insurance for any clerk or employee that retires from the Acadia 15 Parish clerk of court's office who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the 16 Louisiana Clerks' of Court Retirement and Relief Fund, who has at least twenty years 17 of full-time service with the clerk of court's office in Acadia Parish, and is at least 18 fifty-five years of age or retired with at least thirty years of service at any age. The 19 provisions of this Paragraph shall not apply to any other insurance, such as 20 supplemental insurance, that an employee may elect to purchase. Present law authorizes the clerk of any district court to contract for group insurance for the clerk of court, employees, and dependants of the clerk or the clerk's employees. Further provides that the clerk or any clerk's employee that retires under the clerk of court retirement program may elect to continue insurance coverage under the program and that the cost may be paid in the same manner as if he were still employed by the clerk of court, if employed by the clerk of court and a member of the La. Clerks' of Court Retirement and Relief Fund for at least 12 years prior to retirement. Proposed law requires the Acadia Parish clerk of court to pay the full amount of all insurance premiums for all retirees who have worked within the Acadia Parish clerk of court's office for 20 years and are at least 55 years of age or retired with at least 30 years of service at any age.
