HB 822 Original	2018 Regular Session	Hensgens
Abstract: Extends the moratorium on licensure of level 4 adult residential care providers to July
1, 2023.
Present law establishes a moratorium on licensure of new level 4 adult residential care providers,
known commonly as "assisted living facilities", until July 1, 2017. Proposed law extends the
moratorium until July 1, 2023.
Present law (Act No. 417 of the 2017 R.S., Section 2) provides that an extension of the moratorium
until July 1, 2018 will become effective in the event a specific appropriation by the legislature is
made for such purposes and the program receives approval by the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services. Proposed law repeals present law.
