EMBALMERS/FUNERAL DIRECT: Increases limitations on fees relative to the Louisiana
State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 37:845(introductory paragraph), (3), and (5), relative to fees
3 determined by the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors; to provide for
4 changes in fee limits for renewal of certain licenses; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 37:845(introductory paragraph), (3), and (5) are hereby amended and
8reenacted to read as follows:
9 ยง845. Fees
10 The board shall require payment of fees hereunder pursuant to this
11 Section as follows:

13 (3) A fee to be determined by the board of not more than eighty one
14 hundred dollars for the annual renewal of each of the licenses listed in
15 Paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Section.

17 (5) A fee to be determined by the board of not more than seven
18 hundred one thousand dollars for the annual renewal of each license for a
19 funeral establishment to operate within this state.

Abstract: Increases the limit on annual license renewal fees determined by the State Board
of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.
Present law sets a limit of $80 on the fee for the annual renewal of a funeral director's license
or the annual renewal of a funeral director's and embalmer's license.
Proposed law increases the limit on the fee from $80 to $100.
Present law sets a limit of $700 on the fee for the annual renewal of each license for a
funeral establishment to operate within this state.
Proposed law increases the limit on the fee from $700 to $1,000.
