HLS 18RS-2282 ORIGINAL 2018 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 87 BY REPRESENTATIVE JAY MORRIS WEAPONS: Expresses support of the right to keep and bear arms 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To express support of the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms. 3 WHEREAS, the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution and Article 4I, Section 11 of the Constitution of Louisiana guarantees the right of Louisiana citizens to 5keep and bear arms; and 6 WHEREAS, in recent years, Congress as well as certain states have passed laws 7which have eroded or attempted to erode the right of the citizens of this country to keep and 8bear arms; and 9 WHEREAS, Americans have the right to protect themselves at home with a firearm; 10and 11 WHEREAS, the United States Constitution recognizes that the right to keep and bear 12arms is necessary to the security of a free nation and for its citizens to protect themselves and 13their families; and 14 WHEREAS, there are some who would repeal or impair the right to keep and bear 15arms. 16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 17express support of the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms and does not support 18any actions that would impair or erode that right, including but not limited to the right of 19citizens to protect themselves and their families in their home.
