HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 8
BY REPRESENTATIVES AMEDEE, MAGEE, AND ZERINGUE
CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences upon the death of Irvin Robert "Bobby"
Boudreaux
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Irvin Robert
3 "Bobby" Boudreaux.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Irvin Robert Boudreaux on
6February 19, 2018, at the age of eighty-six; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux was a native and resident of Houma; his first job out of
8high school was working as an office clerk at the courthouse; thereafter, he honorably served
9in the U.S. Air Force in Seoul, South Korea; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux worked in the clerk's office from the time he returned
11home in 1950 until he was elected clerk of court in 1963; he served as the clerk of court of
12Terrebonne Parish for fifty years; and
13 WHEREAS, in the twelve terms he served, Mr. Boudreaux faced opposition only
14three times and never sought any other public office; he retired in 2012, making him the
15second longest serving clerk of court in Louisiana history; and
16 WHEREAS, "Bobby" Boudreaux received a multitude of community service awards
17and commendations throughout his career, including honors from the parish president, state
18legislature, governor's office, and state supreme court; he was a recipient of the Elton Darsey
19Lifetime Achievement Award from the Terrebonne Parish Bar Association and received an
20honorary badge from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office upon his retirement; and

1 WHEREAS, "Bobby" had a well-developed sense of humor; his wit and charm
2served him outside of court as he was often asked to emcee local events; and
3 WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux was a member of the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed fishing,
4gardening, working in his yard, and playing cards with his family and friends; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux had a love for service that was eclipsed only by his love
6for his family; and
7 WHEREAS, Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Rosadell "Rose" Percle
8Boudreaux; children, Kathy Boudreaux, Suzanne Gautier, and her husband Jack, Barry
9Boudreaux, and his wife Kathy, and Kenny Boudreaux, and his wife Lydia; grandchildren,
10Chad Michael Parr, and his wife Nicole, Ross Boudreaux, and his wife Debbie, and Blake
11Boudreaux; and great-grandchildren, Austin Parr, Kate Parr, Jack Boudreaux, and Mary
12Boudreaux; and
13 WHEREAS, although the death of Irvin Robert Boudreaux has left a tremendous
14void in his community and in the judicial system that he served so long and so well, his
15legacy shall forever live in the hearts and minds of all the citizens whose lives he touched.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
18death of Irvin Robert "Bobby" Boudreaux; does hereby recognize and record for posterity
19the accomplishments and contributions of Mr. Boudreaux, an exemplary public servant, to
20the city of Houma, to Terrebonne Parish, and to our state and nation; and does hereby pay
21tribute to Irvin Boudreaux for the generous and effective way in which he dedicated his
22intelligence and his energy to justice.
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
24to the family of Irvin Robert Boudreaux.
