AMUSEMENTS/SPORTS. Provides relative to the State Boxing and Wrestling
Commission. (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 4:61(C), the section heading of R.S. 4:67, and R.S. 4:70(A) and
3 (C), relative to the State Boxing and Wrestling Commission; to provide for domicile;
4 to provide for duties of the commission; to eliminate certain terms; to provide for
5 procedures and conditions; and to provide for related matters. 
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 4:61(C), the section heading of R.S. 4:67, and R.S. 4:70(A) and (C)
8 are hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
9 §61. State Boxing and Wrestling Commission; domicile; authority

11	C. The commission shall be domiciled in and shall maintain an office in the
12 city of New Orleans, where and only where it may be sued the city of Baton Rouge.
13 The commission may sue to enforce the provisions of this Chapter in any of the
14 courts in the state.

1 §70. Physicians and emergency medical personnel
2	A. For each boxing, mixed technique, or professional wrestling event, the
3 commission promoter shall appoint a physician, determined by the commission
4 to be competent and of good standing, who shall examine each contestant before the
5 contestant enters the ring, and who shall say whether the contestant is in physical
6 condition to participate as advertised. The physician shall be present at the ringside.
7 The physician shall render such advice or service as the commission requests. The
8 fees of the physician for each individual event shall be paid by the club promoting
9 the event and shall be reasonable and customary for the size and location of the
10 event.

12	C. Any physician so appointed by the commission promoter shall be an
13 independent contractor of the commission, not an employee.

Present law provides relative to the State Boxing and Wrestling Commission. 
Present law provides that the domicile of the board shall be in New Orleans and provides
that the board shall be sued in New Orleans. 
Proposed law changes the domicile to Baton Rouge and removes the provision that the board
can only be sued in New Orleans. 
Present law provides that the commission shall appoint a physician to examine each
contestant before the contestant enters the ring. 
Proposed law changes the physician from the commission to the promoter and provides that
the commission shall determine that the physician is competent and of good standing. 
Effective August 1, 2018.
