R.S. 49:150.1(H) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง150.1. State capitol complex; allocation of space; maintenance; law enforcement 9 officer and firefighter memorial; Gold Star Families monument 10 * * * 11 H.(1) Subject to the joint approval and oversight of the governor, the 12 president of the Senate, and the speaker of the House of Representatives, the 13 superintendent of state buildings shall do all of the following: 14 (a) Set aside and maintain an appropriate area accessible to the public 15 on the east side of the state capitol on the grounds surrounding the Old Arsenal 16 Museum known as the Louisiana Veterans Memorial Park, for a monument 17 honoring the sacrifices of Louisiana Gold Star Families. SB NO. 175 ENROLLED 1 (b) Plan, implement, and maintain the monument. 2 (2) The funding source for the initial construction of the monument shall 3 consist solely of private donations, grants, and other nonpublic monies; 4 however, public funds may be used to maintain the monument. 5 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 6 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 7 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 8 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 9 effective on the day following such approval.
