Present law prohibits the wearing or possessing of body armor on school property, at
school-sponsored functions, or in firearm-free zones.
Present law provides exceptions for wearing body armor on school property, at school-sponsored
functions, or in firearm-free zones.
Proposed law retains present law and provides an exception for students to carry, wear, or possess
bullet-resistant backpacks on school property or a school bus.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
