Proposed law adds in Code of Civil Procedure that assignment of appellate panels shall be in
accordance with the provisions of R.S. 13:319.
Present law relative to assignment and allotment of cases provides in R.S. 13:319 that each civil and
criminal proceeding and each application for writs shall be randomly assigned by the clerk, subject
to the direct supervision of the court. Proposed law changes "proceeding" to "appeal" and retains
remainder of present law.
Effective August 1, 2018.
